Network Assessments

Whenever a department is planning to move a jack, install a new jack, or is obtaining cable TV service, an assessment of the area of service must be conducted by an ITU network engineer. Please refer to University Policy 1303 (Spaces and Cabling) for information governing requests for cabling services. The following steps will assist in initiating the service required:

  1. The department must complete one of the data forms and fax the form to the ITU Support Center at 3-3347. The jack assessment form is the only data form faxed to Telecom Admin at 3-3541.
  2. Upon receipt of the department's request, Telecom Admin will create a work order. This work order will be forwarded to the Network Engineering group. Telecom Admin will email the work order number to the customer.
  3. A network engineer will contact the department to arrange for the assessment.
  4. Upon completion of the assessment, the network engineer will advise the customer of the next steps needed to initiate the services of the University's contractor for network cabling.
  5. The detailed steps needed to enlist the services of the contractor are listed below.
